Editing Dynamics 365 Records in Portals without Logging In
Dynamics 365 Portals were created as a method for External Users to access certain parts of Dynamics 365 without needing to be allocated a license. The development of Dynamics 365 Portals allows Entity Views and Entity Forms to be exposed, this allows users to Edit, Create and Read data. Users are also able to browse content anonymously without needing to record their contact information.
There are certain situations such as creating event invitations or personalised links to contacts in Dynamics 365 which do not have a valid login into the PowerApps Portals.
The following are steps to overcome this issue:
Create a Dynamics 365 Web Page
Select the Appropriate Form on D365 & Create a Dynamics 365 Entity Form with Edit Functionality
Expose the Entity form on the Web PageHow to use this functionality:
Creates record in D365Workflow to extract the GUID of the Record
Implement a Custom Workflow to Extract the record GUID
Create a new field storing the webpage details
Create a new field to store GUID once the Custom Workflow is extracted, the GUID should look something like below
Concatenate the two together via a workflow
Here you have the portal record which is directly linked to D365 and can be edited.
